Judas is the latest game from BioShock creator Ken Levine and his first outing with Ghost Story Games, which formed after the death of Irrational Games. With only two trailers, a vague launch window of the 2025 fiscal year, and no uncut gameplay to go off, we still don’t know much about the game.
Trailers have showcased a significant BioShock inspiration, to the point you could consider it a spiritual successor, but we’ll find out if that’s true as the release comes closer. If you want to know everything we’ve learned about Judas so far, read on below.
Are there any Judas trailers?
The first Judas trailer was the reveal trailer at the 2022 Game Awards. It featured 90 seconds of various in-engine shots and some gameplay, showcasing some interesting characters such as a little girl who appears to be a robot, a sheriff, and a large robot dog.
Trailer two was the story trailer, which debuted during the January 2024 State of Play. It was a little longer but fairly similar to the first trailer, mostly featuring random in-engine scenes, but combat got a much bigger showing this time around.
Some of the abilities (similar to plasmids from BioShock) were shown off, such as an energy whip, electroshock, and fireball, along with weapons like the shotgun and bolt-action rifle.
Both trailers also end with the phrase “fix what you broke”, which is likely to be a prominent theme in the story, especially as the Steam blurb for the game reads “Will you work together to fix what you broke – or will you leave it to burn?” We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out what we’ve apparently broken.
What do we know about Judas gameplay?

Judas is a narrative first-person shooter that draws clear inspiration from Levine’s previous games like BioShock and System Shock. You play the titular character who is trying to escape a disintegrating starship, likely referring to what you (the protagonist) broke.
Combat mechanics are also similar to BioShock, as your character can use guns in one hand and special powers in the other.

However, we don’t know much about the gameplay structure, such as whether it will be a more straightforward shooter or an immersive sim with systemic design like previous games Levine has worked on.
Judas platforms
The game is confirmed to be releasing on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
