Joey Yung children-Hong Kong singer, Joey Yung was born on June 16th, 1980 at Yan Chai Hospital in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong.
Yung, who was signing with Go East Entertainment Co., Ltd., participated in the Big Echo Karaoke Singing Contest at the age of fifteen.
She recorded “The First Time I Want to be Drunk” as a theme song for a movie while a Go East artist, but it did not receive much attention, and the label soon released her.
She worked as a cashier and assisted her mother in running a clothing store while continuing to go to school. Afterwards, a former Go East coworker showed her around Pony Canyon. Nevertheless, Pony Canyon closed down its Hong Kong operation soon after she started working there.
Joey Yung career
Yung joined the Fitto Entertainment record label in Hong Kong in 1998. She was transferred abroad for training in 1999, when she started taking vocal lessons from Teresa Carpio and Roman Tam. To gather performance experience, she toured with them on concert tours.
Her first EP, titled EP 1 Joey, was made available on September 30, 1999. In Hong Kong, it generated 130,000 sales and spent 2.3 weeks on the IFPI Album Charts.
Yung’s Happy Valley flat was completely damaged by fire in February 2000. She appeared in Winner Takes All and The Green Hope, her first television drama appearances, respectively, in the same year.
Also, she released Who Will Love Me, her debut studio album, as well as her second EP, EP 2 Can’t Afford to Miss. She also performed in her debut performance, Joey Yung’s “See You Everywhere” Live Concert,” at the Hong Kong Coliseum at the same time as she led advertisements for a number of companies, including Four Seas, the Red Cross, and Netvigator.
Love Joey, Yung’s debut compilation album, was the best-selling album of 2001. It was followed by All Summer Holiday and Solemn on Stage, two Cantonese albums.
H2O+ ‘Solemn on Stage’ Joey Yung Live in Concert 2001, her second live performance, was staged in November at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
She spent two months studying dance overseas in 2002 before returning to Hong Kong to release the Cantonese album Something About You. She afterwards assumed the role of Nissin and Nikon spokesman.
The song “My Pride,” which was published on March 25, 2003, and used as the theme song for a television ad for Banyan Garden created by Cheung Kong Holdings, helped Yung gain popularity in 2003.
The studio album Nin9 2 5ive and Yung’s debut photo book The Real Joey, Glamour in London were both released in 2004. The photo album was warmly appreciated by the general audience and quickly went out of print.
Both a new Cantonese studio album, Bi-Heart, and Yung’s third compilation album, Love Joey 3, were released in 2005. Reflection of Joey’s Live Concert, her fourth significant performance, lasted for eight days in October and November.
Ten Most Wanted, Yung’s tenth studio album in Cantonese, was made available on February 27, 2006. The album, in Yung’s opinion, was more experimental and had better production values than her earlier works.
The Joey Ten Boxset and 10th Anniversary EP were both released on January 29, 2010, under the name Joey Ten. The EP had five tracks and ten distinct covers (nine for Version 1 and one for Version 2).
For the first time since 2002, Yung took a break in 2011 and went on a globe tour. She resumed her tour with her No 6 show in Macau, Reno, Atlantic City, and Toronto throughout the first part of 2012.
She participated in the Ageas Joey Yung in Concert 1314 tour, which ran from December 2013 to October 2015 and kicked off in the Hong Kong Coliseum before stopping in China, Malaysia, and the US.
In November 2020, Yung released the Cantonese single “Living in the Present ()”. This was also the first time Yung had contributed to the creation of a song that she and Howie from Dear Jane had co-written.
Yung debuted in the Chinese reality series Sisters Who Make Waves (season 2) in January 2021. Each week, 30 women who are all successful musicians in their own way participate in a variety of singing and dance competitions.
She released the Cantonese single “After All These” on September 29, 2021. She not only produced the song, but also the music video.
