American meteorologist who works at WBTV Chief Meteorologist in Charlotte, NC was born in Salisbury, a city in the United Kingdom.
Myers spent time growing up in Union and Catawba counties. He studied at North Carolina State University and earned a degree in meteorology with a concentration in communications.
The majority of Jason’s more distant relatives reside in North Carolina, so he was glad to be back there and to be working with familiar meteorologists like Eric Thomas and Al Conklin.
When Jason was in 3rd grade, he was working on a scientific project that involved creating a homemade weather station with his mother and attending a meteorological session at Discovery Place in Charlotte.
For KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas, Jason began his broadcast meteorology career. He later worked at WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia, and most recently served as the Chief Meteorologist for ABC 36 in Lexington, Kentucky.
Jason Myers’ death was reported on Tuesday November 22nd, 2022 in the afternoon after he was involved in an helicopter crash along with Sky3 pilot Chip Tayag.
WBTV released an official statement confirming the tragedy to the general public, saying that they are working to comfort the bereaved f amilies of their two staff workers who met their untimely death through this tragedy.
“The WBTV family is grieving a terrible loss. Our news helicopter Sky3 crashed mid-day Tuesday with two of our colleagues on board. Meteorologist Jason Myers and pilot Chip Tayag lost their lives. We are working to comfort their families in this difficult time. We appreciate the outpouring of support for our staff and your continued prayers for their families”

The Police Chief of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Johnny Jennings also confirmed the news and sou8ght for prayers from the public on behalf of the bereaved families.
“Tragically there are two people who will not be going home and spending the holidays with their loved ones. I ask that we pray for the families“.
Jason Myers was married to his childhood friend, Jillian Myers. Myers, his wife and family love to travel and enjoy the beauty of Central Kentucky, from biking along the Legacy Trail to hiking in the Red River Gorge, camping in one of the Kentucky State Parks, Go fishing and kayaking along one of the local rivers or lakes.
Funeral dates and arrangements for Jason Myers and Chip Tayaq has not been communicated to the public yet.
