Install Stable Homebrew, Emulators on Hacked PS Vita

If you follow the Vita hacking scene closely, then you know that it is quite rare to see game vulnerabilities that allow you to run TN-V as well as other emulators and homebrew on top of major firmware versions. the latest Vita formula (OFW).

This is the case with OFW 3.36 for PS Vita, which allows players to run the latest version of TN-V, the most popular PSP emulator.

However, while getting the TN-V11 up and running is a pretty straightforward job as long as you have any of the required mining games and follow this guide, there are some issues with OFW 3.36 and the others. newer versions prevent the correct installation and execution of game emulators and other homebrews if installed in the traditional way.

Thankfully there is a method that you can use to install these and other homebrew emulators that will allow you to run them perfectly and without errors or problems saving your data or settings .

Needless to say, before we get started, you should only follow this guide if you’ve hacked your PS Vita on OFW 3.36 and are having trouble running your favorite emulator.

Follow these steps to install emulators and homebrew on your hacked PS Vita running OFW 3.36

What you will need:

  • Hacked PS Vita on OFW 3.36 and running TN-V11
  • A zip file with all your emulators and homebrew code, named ‘INSTALL.ZIP’. If you don’t know what this is, then you must first read our post on how to prepare and transfer emulators to your hacked PS Vita. Also, make sure to include the VitaFTP client in that INSTALL.ZIP file, as you’ll be using FTP later.

Ok, with that behind us, let’s get started.

Step 1: First, you have to prepare the transfer location to copy some files later. So on your computer, go to the location where you store your PSP save data. This is the exact location where you put the folder to enable the hack in the first place.

Ps Vita Save data folder

Note: I have a Numblast hack, so I’m going to use a save folder called ‘TNV_54321’ which is the folder for that particular hack. Make sure you specify the correct directory for your directory.

When you find the folder, open it. Then locate the save file for the hack. Once you get there, leave the folders as they are for now as you’ll come back here later.

Step 2: Now download this file. This is a clone of the popular Vita Homebrew Loader (or VHBL, a homebrew part that supports all types of emulators) that has been converted to ISO format, which is supported by the PSP/TN-V11 hack.

Vhbl Download Web

Unzip the file and you will be left with VHBL.ISO and its save folder, named ‘VHBL01234’ as shown in the image below.

Vhbl unzipped

Now, it’s time to go back to the folder you opened in the first step.

Step 3: Once in that folder (where the PSP’s data folders are located), copy the ‘VHBL01234’ folder you just unzipped into it. Then take the file ‘VHBL.ISO’ and place it in the TN-V11 hack folder (in my case the ‘TNV-54321’ folder), as shown below.

In the end you will have both folders (the file with the ISO you just copied and the VHBL save data) in your PSP save data folder as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 4: Now get the installation file for your emulator or homebrew (should name it INSTALL.ZIP) and also place it in the ‘VHBL01234’ folder. This is done for easy identification purposes only, as you can place this file in any PSP save data folder (I did). Just make sure you remember the exact folder you put it in, as well as the size of the INSTALL.ZIP file.

Step 5: Now, on your computer, open qCMA and connect your PS Vita to it via USB. Then, transfer the VHBL save file, as well as the save file used to trigger your hack, from your computer to your Vita.

If you copied your emulator to another save file, be sure to copy that as well (this is where the size of your INSTALL.ZIP file comes in handy).

Important Note: You are familiar with this transfer process by now. If not, be sure to read any of the instructions linked above. Or you can go to this section if you are just taking the first steps to hack your PS Vita.

Step 6: With the files copied, disconnect your PS Vita and start the TN-V11. Then locate the VHBL file in Game part. When you do, select it and press the . button Triangle to display options. From them, choose Setting to install VHBL.

After the installation is complete, select Correct when your Vita asks you to delete the file.

Step 7: Now, open VHBL. In the upper part of the screen you will be able to see your current location.

Go PSP/SAVEDATA and you will find all your save files there. Then just find where you copied the INSTALL.ZIP file. When you choose to save data, VHBL will immediately start installing your emulator.

Once the installation is complete, you should finally be able to start your emulators and run them without problems.

Step 8: (Optional): Alternatively, if your emulator is not installed where you want, you can access your Vita via FTP (that’s why you need it) and migrate emulator folders to another location.

The Ps Vita Emulator has been ported

You can also add ROM files to your emulator through this method, you can learn more about this method in this Vita FTP tutorial if you are new to it.

And that’s about it. Now, whenever you want to play on your emulator, just start VHBL on your Vita and you’re good to go. Enjoy your emulator on PS Vita running OFW 3.36!
