HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Rare Crates can be earned in Escape from Tarkov Arena, then transferred to the base game
  • You’ll need Workbench L2 in order to open these
  • Each of the four Crates have their own unique rewards

Rare Crates from Escape from Tarkov’s Arena expansion can be transferred over to the main extraction game mode, and figuring out how to unlock them can result in some exciting rewards.

You’ll need to progress a fair way into the game before you can crack them open though, but the wait might just be worth it depending on the type of Crate that you’ve obtained.

What are Rare Arena Crates?

There are four Rare Crates that you can obtain in Arena and transfer over to Escape from Tarkov, giving you unique rewards when you manage to unlock them. The four Crates are as follows:

  • Supply Crate (Rare)
  • Equipment Crate (Rare)
  • Valuables Crate (Rare)
  • Weapon Crate (Rare)

They are all recognisable by their blue and grey design, alongside the print of a Lega Medal.

How to get Rare Crates

All four of the Rare Crates can only be obtained in Escape from Tarkov’s Arena expansion, and are typically rewards for Ref’s daily and weekly quests.

This means that you’ll need to own and be regularly playing Arena in order to pick these up. Thankfully with the advent of shared characters, your time spent in Arena won’t be ‘wasted’, as any XP you earn over your current PMC level will be transferred back to the base game.

You’ll also be able to pick up plenty of GP Coins and Lega Medals to use in the base game via Ref, which can definitely give you the edge heading into your next raid.

How to unlock Rare Arena Crates

  • Transfer the item over to the base game via Ref in Arena
  • Unlock Workbench L2 in the Hideout
    • Requirements:
      • 2x Screw nuts
      • 8x Bolts
      • 1x Leatherman Multitool
      • 3x Toolsets
      • 1x Set of files “Master”
      • 2x Electric drills
      • 3x Weapon parts
      • Mechanic LL2
      • Illumination L2
  • Find the craft for your specific Crate and make sure that you’ve got the following items too:
    • 1x Pliers Elite
    • 1x Flat screwdriver
    • 1x Hand drill
  • The Crate will now transfer from ‘Locked’ to ‘Unlocked’, so now you just need to right-click on it and select ‘Unpack’ to receive your items

The three items required for each Crate’s craft are thankfully classed as auxiliary, and therefore will be retained and not lost after each craft. This saves you from having to buy new ones each time, which would get quite expensive!

All Rare Arena Crate rewards

Each Crate has its own unique pool of potential rewards, with no set items guaranteed to pop every time you open a new one.

You could be on the receiving end of some incredibly meta weapons or even some of the best armour, but you could also get some rather average loot too:

Let’s hope at least one of us is lucky enough to get some good loot, as it’s always deflating to go through all of the effort only to get stuff that you would ignore in a Scav run.
