Agent Smith has been confirmed as the next fighter to join the MultiVersus roster, bringing The Matrix property to the game for the first time.
While Smith isn’t quite here yet, we do know there is a method that will guarantee you unlock him early. Check out how you can do so below.
How to unlock Agent Smith early
Unlocking Agent Smith early requires you to take part in the Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free! event that’s taking place until July 23.

You’ll need to beat 20 different Rift bosses to unlock Agent Smith, with each boss coming at the very end of a Rift event.
There are five different Rift events right now, but each one can be increased in difficulty, meaning you need to beat them all four times at progressively harder levels. If you complete all the tiers, you can also unlock an exclusive skin for Agent Smith.
Do we know when Agent Smith will release?
There’s no concrete date for Agent Smith’s release yet, but based on the end date of this event, we can make a guess.
We know that completing the event gives players two weeks early access to Agent Smith beginning on the July 23 end date, so we can assume he’ll release sometime in early-to-mid August.
