You realize that even though the video title in your native language was not posted by the YouTuber, YouTube has automatically translated the video title.
Although YouTube is doing its best to make things easy for users, sometimes YouTube still has errors when translating titles. And not everyone likes automatic translations, which are often inaccurate. Some people know multiple languages and they are happy with the original titles.

Why does YouTube translate video titles
There can be many reasons for the same. It could be because you chose a different country or a language you don’t understand on YouTube. Similarly, sometimes, device language and VPN also affect YouTube language.
Let’s see how to turn off automatic translation of YouTube video titles.
1. Change YouTube country
YouTube provides factory settings to change the default country. Country settings are not linked to your Google account. Meaning if you have set US on your computer, it might be different on your phone. So check it out on all devices. To do so, follow these steps:
Change YouTube country on desktop
Step 1: Launch the YouTube website and log in to your account.
Step 2: Click on the profile picture icon at the top. Select Location from the menu.
Step 3: Select the US, UK or a country whose language you understand well.
Step 4: Close your browser and then open it. Hopefully now the titles will appear in their original language.
Change YouTube country on Android
Step 1: Open the application and click on the avatar icon.
Step 2: Go to Settings followed by General.
Step 3: Click on Location and change it.
Change YouTube country on iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Step 1: Open the application and click on the avatar icon.
Step 2: Tap Settings followed by Location. Change it.
2. Change YouTube language
Have you cleared your computer’s browser cache recently? That may have changed YouTube’s language. To fix it, open the YouTube website and click on your photo icon at the top. Select Language from the menu. Set a language that you understand. When you change it, you will notice that the entire content language of the site has been changed.

On the YouTube mobile app (Android and iOS), you don’t have a language option. That’s because the app relies on the language set on your phone. So you need to change it, as shown in the next section.
3. Change device language
I know it’s not convenient to change the device language just for YouTube. But if the video title bothers you a lot, add as many languages as you know to your device language.
Here are the steps for Android and iOS.
Change phone language on Android
Step 1: Open Settings. Tap System or General management depending on the options available on your phone.
Step 2: Tap Language & input, then Language.
Step 3: Click Add language to add a new language you know. You should also rearrange the languages according to your preference.
Change language on iPhone and iPad
Step 1: Open the Settings app and tap General.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap Language & Region.
Step 3: Tap on iPhone Language. Choose one that you understand. Click Done.
Step 4: Go back and tap Edit at the top. If you have selected multiple languages, change their order by holding your preferred choice at the top, etc. Tap Done to save the changes.
4. Change language for Google products
Step 1: Open the settings for your Google account by going to https://myaccount.google.com/.
Step 2: Click Data & personalization on the left side.
Step 3: Scroll down and click Language under General web preferences.
Tip: You can go directly to https://myaccount.google.com/language
Step 4: Add all the languages you know by clicking Add more languages. Make sure to keep the language you know well as the default language.
Step 5: Close your browser. You should also clear your browser cache. Then check the video titles.
5. Disable VPN
If you are using a VPN, your location may appear different from YouTube and that is why you see different titles. So, try turning off the VPN for a while and see if YouTube stops automatically translating video titles.
