From now on, whenever you hold a Zoom meeting, you’ll see the meeting duration in the upper right corner.
Let me clarify this. The duration function is enabled only on your side. That is, you as the organizer or participant can view the meeting duration during the Zoom session. Enable meeting duration in the Zoom mobile app
Due to its cross-platform availability, Zoom is also popular on the small screen. Users who don’t always have access to desktop prefer the Zoom mobile app to meeting participants. If you follow a defined category, follow the steps below to enable Zoom meetings on Android or iOS.
Note: Both the Zoom apps on Android and iOS have the same user interface and they are identical in feature set. The screenshot below is from the Zoom iOS app, but you can follow the same steps on the Android app to enable meeting duration.
Step 1: Open Zoom app on iPhone/Android.
Step 2: Navigate to Settings from the bottom tab.
Step 3: Go to Meetings and scroll to the bottom from the following menu.
Step 4: Enable Show My Connected Time option. The option will show the elapsed time in the meeting.
Now go back to the server or join a Zoom meeting and you will see the meeting duration in the upper right corner.
The timer trick is very useful for users of Zoom’s Basic plan (which most of us are using). Zoom offers a free version — something almost none of its competitors do — that even allows users to host up to 99 members and chat with them for 40 minutes.
Unhide meeting controls in Zoom
You may notice that during a Zoom meeting in progress, the meeting controls automatically hide and can be annoying when you want to access important meeting controls like Zoom Screen Sharing, Turn Off Zoom sound, React, etc. Here are the steps to edit meeting controls in Zoom.
Step 1: Open the Zoom application on the desktop.
Step 2: Tap the profile menu and go to Settings.
Step 3: Navigate to General.
Step 4: Turn on Always show meeting controls.
From now on, you’ll see fixed meeting controls in the Zoom app. Additionally, you can master the Zoom shortcuts to access important Zoom options during a video call.
As expected, you can also enable fixed meeting controls on the mobile app. But I don’t recommend doing it on small screens to take up important screen space during Zoom meetings.
