In Firefox you can’t clear history by date but by time period. You will need a plugin to do so. The History settings are apparently correct. After downloading, press Ctrl+Shift+Del. This will open the options for the plugin. What it does is, it adds more options to Clear recent history window. It adds date specific options and also controls session history.
The biggest limitation of this plugin is that you cannot select a specific website. However, if your sole purpose is to clear history on a specific date then it is the best plugin.
