With just one save slot and the potential to kill any NPC, figuring out how to revive in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is essential.
Unfortunately, this is done through a limited resource in the game, so you will have to pick and choose who is worthy enough to be brought back to life. There are some things you can do to prevent the death of your Pawns specifically though, letting you save your precious items for later on.
How to revive Pawns

When a Pawn’s health reaches zero in a fight they will enter a downed state, and all you need to do to bring them back to life again is head over to them and hold the prompted button (‘Circle’ on PlayStation).

There is a timer for this though, so make sure that you don’t leave them too long as otherwise they’ll die for real. If that does happen, you can head to the nearest Riftstone or Pawn’s Guild to rejoin with your own main Pawn, but any hired Pawns will have to be rehired or replaced.
Furthermore, Pawns that die from significant fall damage or are engulfed by the water cannot be revived, so make sure to be careful around these dangers.
How to revive yourself
Having all your health depleted in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will lead to a game over – however, you can use a Wakestone to revive yourself and restore your health and stamina back to full.

Wakestones are formed once you collect three Wakestone Shards, and a prompt will pop up upon death asking if you want to use one to bring yourself back to life.
As far as I can tell, there is a very small window just after your health reaches zero that you can use standard healing items to restore your HP, but this is also very easy to miss.
How to revive NPCs
NPCs are a little different, as every character in the game can be killed, and reviving them requires the use of a Wakestone.
If you are near where they have just died you can revive their body directly, but if you leave it a while they will be taken to the nearest Morgue or Charnel House where they will sit for a couple of days before disappearing forever.

You can spend Gold to identify their coffin at a Charnel House, but you’ll still need to use a Wakestone (once again made up of three Wakestone Shards) to bring them back to life. If you revive them in a Charnel House they will return to the place where they died, so head back there to speak to them again or resume a quest.
I had to do this for one of the early side quests where an NPC was leading me to his brother in a forest. In the midst of a battle they must have fallen off a cliff and died, and it was only until I went to a Charnel House that I realised this and revived them to complete the quest.
Where to find Wakestone Shards
Wakestone Shards can be found in various chests as you explore the open world, but you’ll also typically find one or two inside a Charnel House which is particularly handy when you’re short!
I generally found enough to keep me going in my playthrough, although if you’re particularly chaotic with your attacks or find yourself dying a lot you might need to seek out some more.
