Found a great video or song on YouTube and now you want to watch/listen to it on a loop? Lucky for you, this guide can show you how to repeat YouTube videos — whether you’re using an Android, iPhone, iPad, desktop, or TV.
Most importantly, unlike Spotify, you don’t need a YouTube premium subscription to repeat a video. However, the YouTube repeat button is highlighted enough, so, many users can easily miss it. But not anymore, because we’re here to help.
Put a YouTube Video on Repeat on Android, iPhone, iPad
YouTube mobile app offers a built-in option to loop videos. And not just a singular video, you can also put a YouTube playlist on repeat.
How to Repeat a YouTube Video
- In your YouTube app play the video you want to repeat.
- Once the video is playing, tap Settings (gear icon) from the top-right corner.
- Here, tap Additonal settings.
- Toggle on the switch next to Loop Video.
When you want to stop the video from repeating, simply repeat the steps above and toggle off, or play any other video.
Repeat a Playlist on YouTube
Whether a pre-created playlist or a private playlist you’ve created, you can set the on repeat with the following steps.
- Play the YouTube playlist you want to repeat.
- You’ll see a Playlist control box under the video, tap the Loop icon.
Notably, when the loop feature is active, the loop icon turns slightly darker than the rest of the elements. Moreover, if you want to change the song’s playing order, tap the shuffle icon.
If you want to repeat just one video from the playlist, you can either follow the steps mentioned in the above section. Or better yet, tap the Loop icon again while the video is playing. A ‘1’ will appear in the middle of the Loop icon, indicating its loop.
Enable Repeat Mode on YouTube Web (Desktop)
Whatever your default browser on Mac or Windows, repeating videos or playlists is equally straightforward for the YouTube web version, let’s check it out.
Loop a Video on YouTube
- Open your preferred web browser and go to YouTube.
- Play the video you want to loop.
- Right-click on the video.
- From the context menu, select Loop.
Tip: In case you do not see the Loop option on the first right-click, then right-click again on the video, similar to what you do to enable YouTube’s picture-in-picture mode.
Make YouTube Auto-Repeat a Playlist
- Open the playlist you want to loop.
- Click the Loop icon from the playlist box.
The playlist will repeat continuously. If you want to repeat just one video from the playlist, tap the Loop icon again, while the video is playing; a ‘1’ will appear on the Loop icon.
Repeat YouTube Videos On Smart TV
With the increasing demand for convenience, even the YouTube app for Google TV or Android TV has integrated a repeat button. And it’s easier to find and use on the TV app, here’s how.
- Open the YouTube app and play the video or playlist.
- Use the down arrow to access menu options.
- Here, move to Repeat and press it.
- If you want to repeat the complete playlist, press the Repeat button again.
- To repeat the current video, press the Repeat button again.
Notably, any of the above-mentioned tricks doesn’t work when you’re casting a video from YouTube on your TV. In essence, you can’t put a video on a loop when casting.
