If you’ve ever looked at a photo and thought to yourself, ‘I wish I could remove this background’, you’re in luck today. If you’ve ever opened a photo in MS Paint and tried to remove the background (there’s no shame in admitting it), this online tool will make your life much easier.
How to use Background Recorder
Background Burner from Bonanaza is a simple website where you can upload your photos and they will try to burn the background as much as they can. If you like, you can fix it yourself later. The tool is free to use but you will have to log in to download your images.
Step 1: Go to the website and drag your image in or select one from the file explorer.
Step 2: You will see a progress bar, really cool, where a dragon will emerge from the uploaded photo and spit fire from its mouth only burning the background.
Step 3: After the process is finished, you will have several options. Your chances of getting a perfect image here are slim. But you’ll get something pretty close to perfect.
Touch on the burnt image
The site’s engine has done its job. It burns the background as much as it can. But that’s all a fire-breathing and cryptographic dragon can do. For it to be perfect, you need to take care of the problem yourself. And you think you’ll never outshine a fire-breathing dragon.
After selecting the best image, you will see the editor. On the left, you’ll find the image as it is, and on the right, what the image will look like after the background has burned out.
The preview on the right has live updates so you can instantly see what the changes you’ve made look like.
From the upper toolbar, use one of the red brushes and start painting over the background that you want to blur. If you make a mistake and burn the foreground instead, don’t worry.
Use the undo button to reverse the last fill. For more control, select the brush and paint green on the foreground parts and they will be restored.
A few minutes of tweaking will get you good enough results. Again, remember, this is a free online tool. Not hundreds of dollar image editing software like Photoshop.
Objectization is easy
Manipulating objects, especially objects with sharp edges, is much easier than manipulating people in images. But thanks to the editing tool, it is possible. I had to spend more time working on the edges when removing the background from a person photo but it was worth it (as you can see below).
Once you’re done editing, you can download the image as a PNG with a transparent background (to easily place it on top of other images and make fun pictures like those in Bonanza’s Hall of Fame), or you can use JPEG and get better color reproduction by removing the transparent background to get a white background.
