If you don’t have any friends to play Helldivers 2 with but still want to play some multiplayer, here’s how to join a public game.
Public games are there for players to join up with others even if you’re not playing in co-op with people you know. It’s a good way to experience the co-op side of the game even if you don’t have anyone to play with. Here’s how to join one!
How to join a public game
All you have to do to join a public game in Helldivers 2 is use the Quickplay feature on the Galactic War table.
However, you’ll need to make sure your Matchmaking Privacy setting is set to Public in the settings, or you won’t be able to join random players. Once you’ve set this correctly you should be able to join in with other players using the Quickplay feature. It’ll just drop you into a mission with others, and you’ll be able to select your loadout as usual.
How to invite people to a game in Helldivers 2

If you’d rather invite people to your own game in Helldivers 2, here’s how to do it:
- Complete the tutorial
- Go to the menu
- Go to Social
- Click on a friend you’ve added and invite them to your game
You can also set your game to Open to Friends which will allow anyone on your friends list to join you whenever they want, provided there’s enough room in the game.
If your game is set to Invite Only, you’ll need to invite other players directly using the steps above.
