How to get the Ring of Misfortune in Diablo 4

The Ring of Misfortune is one of the most elusive Unique items in all of Diablo 4, with it taking until early August 2024 for players to finally figure out how to acquire it.

The item has some fairly useful stats, but it comes with an unfortunate debuff. Even so, it’s so rare and unique that you may want it just to have it in the collection. So, here’s how to get the Ring of Misfortune.

How to get the Ring of Misfortune

The Ring of Misfortune is a weirdly convoluted process so I’ve embedded a video above from a YouTuber called Nora who was one of the first to find it. For a breakdown of the full process, here’s what you need to do.

Firstly, you’ll need five different players (including yourself), each with a completely different class. There are no level requirements here, so don’t worry about being the same level of power.

You’ll all also need to have a Lucky Coin each. This is a rare item that only drops when kill loot a dead NPC while you’re under the effect of a Greed Shrine. If you have a Lucky Hit past 50%, there’s also a higher chance one of these will drop.

Once you and the party are all different classes and each have a Lucky Coin in their inventory, you’ll need to head over to the Wishing Well in the south of The Downs, located in the Cerrigar region. It’s also marked on the map above.

All the players will need to throw their Lucky Coin into the Wishing Well one after another, by clicking the well. After the fifth coin has been dropped in, a Ring of Misfortune will appear in each person’s inventory.
