With the Winter Holiday event in full swing, the Ice-type Pokemon is roaming Pokemon GO freely as part of the festivities. This guide details how to get Cetoddle and Cetitan and whether or not these Pokemon can be Shiny in the mobile game from Niantic.
How to get Cetoddle
During the Winter Holiday festivities from December 18 to December 31, 2023, Ice-type Pokemon will populate the wilds of Pokemon GO, including Cetoddle. Venture out and tackle some Routes, and you’re sure to encounter a Cetoddle eventually!

Alternatively, you can find Cetoddle occupying One-Star Raids throughout the entirety of Winter Holiday Part 1 and Part 2. Defeat a Cetoddle in a Raid Battle, and you’ll get an opportunity to capture it with Premier Balls!
Finally, you’re guaranteed to run into Cetoddle as you progress through the Winter Wishes Timed Research. Regardless of the path you choose, you’ll receive a task that awards an encounter with Cetoddle.
Can Cetoddle be Shiny in Pokemon GO?
Sadly, Cetoddle can’t be Shiny in Pokemon GO.
Shiny Cetoddle exists in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but the Shiny variant likely won’t appear in Pokemon GO until later. Look for Shiny Cetoddle to debut in a future Ice-type or Paldea-themed event.

Cetoddle’s Evolution, Cetitan, typically evolves when exposed to an Ice Stone, but in Pokemon GO, all you need is 50 Cetoddle Candy! Capture as many as you can and stockpile Candy until you can evolve your favourite into Cetitan.
