You need to select the offline files or folders that you want to display online and the system will take care of that. However, sometimes, Dropbox’s sync may not sync systematically.
If you’ve encountered a situation like this, it’s time to do some testing to start the sync process on Windows 10.
Without further ado, check out some of the best ways to fix Dropbox sync issues.
1. Turn off and restart Dropbox
We know, you’ve probably already tried this step, but it wouldn’t hurt to try, right? Just quit the app and launch it again.
If it’s a simple one-time thing, chances are you’ll see documents and files synced after a while. Also keep an eye on the open files in your system.
2. Is the process stuck?
Dropbox completely unresponsive? If that’s the case, it could be a case of a stuck process.
Step 1: To end the Dropbox process, right click on the Taskbar to bring up the Task Manager.
Step 2: Next, right-click on the Dropbox process and select End Task. Once done, relaunch Dropbox to see if it resolved your issue.
3. Is There Enough Space
Like any other file storage service, Dropbox also has file upload limits. For example, Dropbox Plus lets you use up to 2TB of storage, while the Basic plan only lets you use 2GB. If you choose the second option, there is a high chance that you may have run out of storage space. And when that happens, the files on your PC won’t sync to the cloud. In addition, you will also not be able to edit. Therefore, it makes sense to exclude the possibility of storage space.
Step 1: Go to Dropbox on your web browser and click on the avatar on the right.
Step 2: Select Settings > Plans, to see how much space has been used.
While Dropbox usually notifies you when your account is running low on space, you can always check if this option is enabled in the settings.

4. Selective Sync Options in Dropbox

5. Delete the cache file
Another reason why your Dropbox might not be syncing properly is due to cache. Thankfully, it’s easy to clear the Dropbox cache.
Step 1: Access Program Files on C: drive. Locate Dropbox and open the .dropbox.cache folder.
Step 2: Now, delete everything inside it.
If you cannot access the contents of the cache folder or cannot view the contents, luckily there is another way to access it.
Step 1: Open the Run application from the Start menu and enter the following command.

Windows Explorer will immediately direct you to the Dropbox cache folder. Select all folders and delete them.
6. Reinstall Dropbox
If all the steps above still don’t fix your problem, you may want to uninstall and install Dropbox. Once done, check if all old Dropbox files and data have also been deleted.
Once you have everything settled, install Dropbox using the same credentials.
Last but not least, check if Dropbox has access to communicate through your PC’s firewall. To check, go to Settings > Update & Security and select Windows Security from the left panel.
