With its latest update, Windows 11 introduced a convenient feature that allows you to sync your clipboard across devices, providing a seamless and unified experience. 1. How to Enable Clipboard Syncing Using Windows 11 Settings

Turning on clipboard synchronization on Windows using the Settings app is straightforward. Follow the below-mentioned instructions. 

Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard. Then, type Settings and click Open.

Note: Alternatively, press ‘Windows key + I’ on your keyboard to quickly open Windows Settings.

Step 2: Go to System from the left pane.

Step 3: On the right pane, scroll down and click on Clipboard.

Step 4: Now, toggle on the Clipboard history. 

That’s it. You have enabled syncing clipboard history across connected Windows devices. To further enhance the clipboard experience, follow the below steps.

Step 5: Toggle on ‘Clipboard history across your devices’ and click the drop-down chevron (arrow) icon.

Step 6: From the drop-down, select ‘Automatically sync text that I copy’ or ‘Manually sync text that I copy’ based on your preference.

2. How to Turn On Clipboard Syncing Using Registry Editor

This step isn’t as straightforward as the previous one but is simple to follow and execute. However, because we will be using the Registry Editor, we suggest backing up the Windows Registry before proceeding with the steps below to ensure you don’t lose your data if things go south. 

Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Registry Editor, and click ‘Run as administrator.’ 

Note: Alternatively, press ‘Windows key + R’ to open the Run dialog box, type regedit.exe, and click OK to open Registry Editor.

In the prompt, select Yes.

Step 2: In the top address bar, enter the mentioned address.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

Note: You can manually navigate to the section too.

Step 3: Under the System folder, right-click and select New. Then, choose ‘DWORD (32-bit) Value.’

Step 4: Set the new DWORD Value’s name to AllowCrossDeviceClipboard by double-clicking it. 

Step 5: Double-click the new value, type 1 in the Value Data field, and press OK.

Note: If you want to gray out the clipboard syncing option from Settings completely, set the Value Data field to 0. 

Finally, reboot the system to implement the changes. And that’s it! After booting up your PC again, you will have enabled clipboard sync across devices.

You can go with the Group Policy editor if you don’t want to enable or allow clipboard synchronization across devices from the registry.

3. How to Allow Clipboard Syncing Using Group Policy Editor

The Local Group Policy Editor helps you control Windows. Thus, you can also use it to allow clipboard syncing. Here’s how to turn off Task Manager for specific users in Windows.

Note: Group Policy Editor is only available for Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise versions. You can skip this method if you are on Windows 11 Home Edition.

Step 1: Press the Windows keys on your keyboard, type gpedit.msc, and click Open.

Note: You can also press ‘Windows key + R’ to open the Run dialog box, type gpedit.msc, and click OK.

Step 2: In the left pane, under ‘Local Computer Policy,’ select Computer Configuration.

Step 3: In the right pane, double-click on Administrative Templates. 

Step 4: Select the System option. 

Step 5: Under the System option, locate OS Policies in the sidebar, go to ‘Allow Clipboard History’ on the right, and double-click on it.

Step 6: Select the Enabled option under the ‘Allow Clipboard History’ window. Finally, click on Apply and then OK.

With this, you have successfully enabled clipboard history in Windows 11. To enable synchronization, continue with the below steps.

Step 7: Under the OS Policies in the sidebar, go to ‘Allow Clipboard Synchronization across devices’ on the right and double-click on it.

Step 8: Under the ‘Allow Clipboard Synchronization across devices’ window, select the Enabled option. Finally, click on Apply and then OK.

How to Enable Clipboard Syncing Between Windows and Android or iPhone

To sync the clipboard between your Windows machine and mobile device, use Microsoft Swiftkey keyboard as your default keyboard app. Follow the below steps. 

Note: For demonstration, we are going with Android. However, the steps broadly remain the same if you are on an iPhone. 

Step 1: Download and install Microsoft Swiftkey AI Keyboard from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). Launch the app after installing it.

Before personalizing it, the system will prompt you to enable and select the Swiftkey AI keyboard as your default keyboard.

Step 2: Once in the Swiftkey settings screen, tap on the Account option. Now, sign in using the same Microsoft account you use on your Windows machine.

Step 3: Once you log in, navigate to Rich input. On the next screen, select Clipboard.

Step 4: Under Clipboard, turn on the toggle for ‘Sync clipboard history.’
