How to Display Apple Move Rings on iPhone

The Apple Watch easily serves as a great fitness tracker with a commendable activity tracking mechanism. One of the signature features of the Apple Watch is the Activity ring (or Movement ring, as they are known). They depict your Move, Exercise and Stand goals in simple graphic form and motivate you to stay healthy throughout the day. From the number of active calories you’ve burned to the hours you’ve spent exercising, it lets you know everything at a glance. The best part is that you can customize the Apple Activity Rings and Move Rings to your liking.

So it would be great if you could see these Move rings on your iPhone too, right? The process is quite easy and does not take much time. And if you ask me, seeing unfinished rings can motivate you to close them soon.

If you’re looking for a way to display Apple Move Rings on your iPhone, here’s how.

How to display Apple Move Rings on iPhone

Step 1: On your iPhone, press and hold on the home screen until you see the apps jiggle.

Step 2: Click the Plus icon in the upper left corner to open the Widget.

Step 3: Scroll down until you see the Activity/Fitness option.

Alternatively, you can find Fitness directly on the Search bar above.

Step 4: Select one of the widget sizes and drag it to the position of your choice on the iPhone home screen.

You can choose a simple widget or use a long form widget.

The rings will now show up wherever you unlock your phone.

Like the Activity rings on your watch, tapping on these gives you a detailed view of your activities. From your recent workouts to breathing exercises, you can see them all.

However, this utility does not display the step count. I know.

How to show steps on iPhone

Unlike the above, the iPhone does not support the native way to display the step count on the iPhone screen or the Apple Watch’s watch face. Thankfully, StepsApp easily solves this problem.

While there are a number of pedometer apps for iPhone, there are only a few that support it, and StepsApp is one of them. It allows you to see the number of steps taken and the time you have walked, among other things.

Now that it’s stable, here’s how to show the steps on your iPhone’s home screen

Step 1: Open StepsApp and grant the necessary permissions. You will have to allow the app to access Apple Health data. Once done, you will see all the information on the homepage.

Step 2: Once you can see the data on the app, go to the Home screen on your iPhone and press and hold it until you see the app wobbling.

Tap the Plus icon in the upper left corner.

Step 3: Search for StepsApp and choose from one of the available styles.

And that’s it. You will need to drag the widget to the home screen. The first style should be enough to give you an overview of your step goals.

How to stack Widgets but be smart

Sadly, iOS widgets lack in the customization area. You cannot place widgets where you choose, nor can you resize them to your liking. And this results in a weirdly styled home screen with both an Activity Loop widget and a parallel Step counter.

Smart Stack helps to solve this problem. With this, you can stack items on top of the other. And when needed, you can swipe up on the widget.

The good thing is that you can customize your iPhone’s Smart Stack to only show the Steps and Activity laps counters.

Step 1: Go to Widgets (long press on home screen, tap plus icon) and select Smart Stack from the list.

.

The good thing about Smart Stack is that it automatically adds some apps like Google Photos, Reminders, Contacts, etc.

Drag the widget to your home screen.

Step 2: Long press on the widget and select the Edit Stack option.

Remove the apps you don’t want by tapping the Minus icon.

Step 3: Next, tap the Plus icon at the top to bring you back to Widgets.

All you need to do is select the widget for Fitness and add it to the stack. Once done, repeat the steps for StepsApp.

Hit the Done button to save your settings and that’s all.

In my case, I kept the Loop widget active at the top, followed by the StepsApp widget. You can also add other health-related add-ons to the mix for added length. Just swipe up/down as needed.

There you have it. You can view all the necessary information in one go. Well, you can thank me later.

Everything has value

In addition to appearing on the front page of your phone, it will also help by adding an Activity Loop to the face of your Apple Watch, along with a step counter. This way, you’ll always be on tiptoe, literally.

Do you close the ring every day? If so, how do you accomplish that?
