Step 1: Click Add a Widget.
Step 2: Click on the . icon Default widget letter.
You will have many options to choose from and many styles within those options. Scroll down until you see image navigation.
Step 3: Choose the Photos in Album. At the bottom of the screen you will see tabs. Click on the tab titled Selected Album.
Step 4: Select Recently. Then click the arrow in the left hand corner to exit this menu.
Step 5: Press Rescue in the upper right corner of the screen.
You will see your new Photo Widget in the list. In the current selection, all photos in your Recents will rotate through the widget. This might work for you if you don’t have a large camera roll, but if you happen to be saving and taking a lot of photos, you might be looking for a more curated feed. Follow along with our guide to managing your Photo Widgets!

Step 2: Click on the . icon image navigation.
Step 3: Click Selected photo so that a blue check mark appears next to it.
Step 4: Click Edit selected photo at the bottom of this page. This is where we will choose which photos will appear on the Widgetsmith. Select all the photos you want to display. You can scroll through the Camera Roll or find your photos using the Albums tab.
Click Finished when you have selected all your photos.
Add your new widget to your Home screen
As far as possible! We have created our widget in Widgetsmith, we have organized our slideshow and now we need to display it.
Step 1: On the home screen, find the page where you want to place this widget. From there, use 3D Touch by gently pushing up on the screen until your apps start to jiggle.
In the upper-right corner of the screen, click the plus sign (+).
Step 2: In the search bar, type in Blacksmith.
Step 3: Scroll to find the widget size you selected earlier, then click Add utilities. This tutorial chose to create a small widget. The process is the same for all sizes, the photo used for reference should reflect this decision.
Step 4: Your widget will appear on the home screen and you can move it like any app. Rearrange newly found apps and extensions to your liking.
My widget is empty!
If you put your Widget on your home screen and notice that the photos you’ve selected aren’t showing up and have something similar to the photo below, there’s a fix for you.
Step 1: Tap your blank Widget. This will open the Widgetsmith.
Step 2: Scroll to your empty Widget and select it.
Step 3: Click on the . icon Default widget text and tap Selected Album navigation.
Look at the album you selected. Widgetsmith is filtering the photo you selected earlier. Ask yourself if there are any photos in that category. For example, we have selfie selected in this tutorial, but all photos selected through Settings are screenshots. So we’ll have to take a selfie or change the album to Screenshots.
But what if you have all kinds of photos that you want to display?
Then choose the widest album Recently.
Can I create multiple slideshows for different gadgets
Correct. In the previous section, we changed the Album settings very broadly with Recently album. You can select photos from each album category via Setting (Favourites, Selfies, Live Photos, etc) and select each category using the Widgetsmith App.
For example, you might have one slideshow showing photos from your Favorites album and another with just your Live Photos. They will all show different photos unless there is an overlap between your albums.
Personalize your Home screen
Make your phone cozy and more like home by styling it to your taste. There are endless possibilities and the more you play with these features, the more you will discover in making your app work for you.
