- To change your display name or picture from the web, click your current profile picture → tap camera/edit icon next to name → upload/change → Save.
- If using a mobile app, tap your name → select account → Edit → upload/change → Save.
- You can also change your team or community’s name, go to the section → three-dot icon → Edit team/community → upload/change → Save.
How to Change Your Name and Profile Picture in Microsoft Teams
The process differs slightly for mobile apps. But first, let’s check the steps for changing your photo and name in Teams on the desktop.
On Desktop App and Web
Step 1: Launch the Teams app or the web service and sign in with your account. Click the profile picture icon (account manager) from the top right corner.
Step 2: To change the profile image, click the current profile picture or initials.
Step 3: A pop-up window will open. Click Upload picture to add your photo. Upload the photo, followed by Save.
Step 4: To change your account name, click the pencil icon next to your name.
Step 5: In the pop-up window, change the name and click Save.
Tip: If during the process, Microsoft Teams is not loading or opening, try out the linked fixes.
On Mobile
Step 1: Open the Teams app and tap your current picture or initials at the top left. Next, tap your name or picture from the top.
Step 2: To change the profile picture, tap Edit under the current picture.
Step 3: Here, select an existing image from the gallery or click one from the camera. Pick one option and upload the image.
Step 4: To change the name,
- On Android devices: Tap the pencil icon from the top, followed by the check icon.
- On iOS: Tap Edit below profile image → Edit name → change and tap Save.
On iOS, you can also directly tap your existing name to visit the name change window. Notably, you can reach this setting on Android and iOS from Settings > Profile in the Teams app.
Note: If you cannot change your picture in Microsoft Teams, try decreasing the resolution of the image or changing its format.
How to Change Team or Community Name and Picture in Microsoft Teams
Note: You must be the organization owner to change your team’s picture and name. Other members do not get this privilege.
On Desktop App and Web
Step 1: Click on the Teams/Community tab from the left sidebar.
Step 2: Click the three-dot icon next to your team’s name. Choose Edit team/community.
Step 3: To change the profile image, tap Edit under the existing one. Upload the image and tap Save.
Step 4: To change the name, select the existing one and enter the new one. Tap Save.
On Mobile
Step 1: Launch the Microsoft Teams app and go to the Team page. Tap the arrow icon (iOS) or i (Android) next to the team name.
Step 2: Here, tap the pencil icon from the top.
Step 3: Change the photo or name from here and tap Save.
