How to backstab in Lords of the Fallen

The backstab in any Soulslike game is a great way of getting an advantage over your enemies, and Lords of the Fallen is no different, as the backstab is still going to give you a good edge – the only issue is that it’s executed a bit differently.

The game is a reboot of the 2014 game of the same name, but it remains set in the same world a thousand years later and we are once again trying to prevent the demon god, Adyr from taking over.

If you hope to best Lords of the Fallen, nailing the backstab will be one of the best weapons in your arsenal (well, aside from the weapons themselves) as it can get an enemy quickly under half health – so here is how you can execute the action during a fight.

In order to backstab in Lords of the Fallen, you need to quietly approach the enemy from behind whilst they are unaware, and then power up a heavy attack using R2 / RT (or hold right click on your mouse).

Once this lands, it will cause them to be staggered, and they’ll drop to their knees with the lock on cursor turning red. After this has happened, press R1 / RB / left click to perform a backstab – hopefully completely finishing off the enemy in the process.

The backstab is definitely one of the best attacks in the game, and its inclusion is a welcome one, but it’s also one of the hardest to land. Thankfully, though, when you do land it, it can be devastating to an enemy.
