The two main terms you come across most when sending emails are CC and BCC, especially in a professional setting. They help you send a copy of the letter to specific people or even yourself and keep them for future reference, just in case. Well, if you use Gmail or Outlook, which we believe most people do, then you can automatically CC and BCC yourself in all your emails.
However, you must be aware that this will clutter your inbox. But with the right settings and filters in place, this can be a great help. In this tutorial, we will show you how to automatically CC or BCC in Outlook and Gmail. But first, let’s start with the basics.
What CC and BCC mean in email
CC and BCC stand for carbon copy and blind copy, respectively, and are email fields that allow you to send a copy of an email to other recipients, including yourself. CC is useful when you want to send a copy of an email to someone for informational purposes or to keep them updated, while BCC is useful for similar reasons but more discreet because the recipients other cannot see BCC recipients in email headers.
How to auto CC or BCC for yourself in Outlook
To make sure you always have a copy of every email you send in Outlook, follow the steps below to automatically CC or BCC yourself in all outgoing emails. This is the way:
Step 1: Open Outlook and click on the three-dot menu.
Step 2: Now go to Rules and select ‘Manage Rules and Alerts’ in the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Click New Rule.
Step 4: In the “Start from an empty rule” section, click “Apply a rule to messages I send” and click Next.
Step 5: Check the box next to ‘through specified account’ in Step 1 and click specified in Step 2.
Step 6: Select your email account and select OK.
Step 7: Click Next.
Step 8: In Step 1, check the box next to ‘Cc messages to people or public groups’ and click ‘public people or groups’ in Step 2.
Note: To BCC an email, select ‘Move a copy to a specified folder’ in Step 1.
Step 9: Now, add your Email ID and click OK.
Step 10: Select an exception if you want to exclude this rule for certain emails and click Next.
Step 11: Enter your Email ID, select ‘Enable this rule’ in Step 2 and click Finish.
Note: To undo CC or BCC automation in Outlook, go to Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts > Under Rules, select the rule you created to automate CC and BCC > Click Delete . That’s it. You will be back to normal.
Now, every time you send an email in Outlook, you automatically receive a copy of that email. This can be useful if you want to keep track of all the messages you send out. However, if you don’t want to manually CC or BCC in every email, you can just auto-forward emails in Outlook.

Step 1: Go to the link and click on the cloudHQ app.
Step 2: Click Remove access.
That’s it. It will revoke your account connected to the extension. Now, uninstall the extension from Chrome.
Step 3: Navigate to Chrome’s extensions panel and find the Auto BCC for Gmail Extension icon (envelope).
Step 4: Right-click the extension icon and click Manage Extensions.
If you don’t see the pinned extension, click Extensions (lego button).
Step 4: Scroll down to find the Remove extension option.
Step 4: You will be prompted with a dialog box, select Delete.
You are now completely free from the automation extension.
Alternative method: Use Gmail’s auto-forwarding feature
If you don’t want to give your account access to third-party extensions, you can use Gmail’s filters and transitions. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open Gmail and go to ‘View all Settings’.
Step 2: Now click on ‘Filters and Blocked Addresses.’
Step 3: Click ‘Create new filter’.
Step 4: Enter your address in the word field and click Create filter.
Step 5: Now, select the option Forward it to. If it’s greyed out, click ‘Add a forwarding address’.
Step 6: Enter your email address and click Next.
That’s it. We recommend using Gmail’s native auto-forwarding option instead of using a third-party Chrome extension.
