One of the benefits of being in Meta’s ecosystem is seamless integration between apps like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. All three platforms support auto-disappearing stories, and with the recent update, you can auto-share your WhatsApp status to a Facebook story.
You can already auto-share an Instagram story on Facebook. However, the same integration wasn’t available between WhatsApp and Facebook. That said, the company has added the feature with the recent update. Before we start, make sure to update WhatsApp to the latest version on iPhone and Android.
Note: As expected, WhatsApp’s neat integration with Facebook is available on mobile apps only. You can’t make tweaks using the company’s desktop apps.
Automatically Post From WhatsApp to Facebook on Android
You should first install Facebook on your phone and sign in with your account details. Now follow the steps below to connect your WhatsApp account to Facebook.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on Android and tap the three-dot menu at the top. Select Settings.
Step 2: Tap Privacy and open Status.
Step 3: Select Facebook under the ‘Share my status updates across my accounts’ option.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions and tap Agree. If you want to share your WhatsApp status with another Facebook account, tap ‘Have another account’ and enter the login credentials for the same.
That’s it. You are all set to share WhatsApp status on Facebook. Note that the instant messaging app won’t share your story on Facebook by default. You need to enable the option from the privacy menu.
Step 1: Head to the Privacy menu in WhatsApp settings (check the steps above).
Step 2: Select Status and tap Facebook.
Step 3: Enable the ‘Always share to Facebook story’ toggle.
From now on, you will be able to share WhatsApp status updates to Facebook stories at the same time. When uploading a WhatsApp status, you will see an option to share it as a Facebook story at the bottom. You can always tap on it and disable the ‘Always share to Facebook story’ toggle if you don’t want to share a specific story on Facebook.
The ability to auto-share your WhatsApp status on Facebook is available on iPhone, too. Go through the steps below to make changes.
Step 1: Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone and go to the Settings tab.
Step 2: Select Privacy. Tap Status.
Step 3: Hit Get Started. WhatsApp should auto-detect your current Facebook account. Once it does, tap Agree from the prompt that follows.
Step 4: If you want to share WhatsApp status to another Facebook account, tap ‘Have a different account?’.
After entering the login credentials, you will be able to share your WhatsApp status as a Facebook story. Now, let’s enable auto-sharing.
Step 1: Head to Status privacy on WhatsApp settings (refer to the steps above).
Step 2: Tap Status. Select Facebook.
Step 3: Enable the ‘Always share to Facebook story’ toggle.
When you share a status on WhatsApp, look for the Facebook icon at the bottom before hitting the send button. You can also customize your WhatsApp status with stickers, crop tools, text, and doodling.
You should know that if you delete your WhatsApp status, it doesn’t automatically delete the Facebook story. You must open Facebook and remove your uploaded story manually.
Disable WhatsApp Status Sharing on Facebook
There are a couple of ways to disable WhatsApp status sharing on Facebook. You can either use the instant messaging app or stop the behavior from Facebook settings.
Step 1: Head to WhatsApp Settings (check the steps above).
Step 2: Tap Privacy and select Status.
Step 3: Tap Facebook and disable the option from the following menu.
Step 1: Open Facebook and go to your menu.
Step 2: Expand Settings & Privacy and select Settings.
Step 3: Scroll to Stories. Select Sharing options.
Step 4: Tap Disable sharing and confirm your decision.
Hide Facebook Stories From Annoying Friends
Since you auto-share your WhatsApp status on Facebook, everyone from your friends list can check your story on the platform. However, if you want to hide the story from specific friends, make sure to tweak the Facebook story’s privacy settings.
Speaking of which, you can check our dedicated guide to hide stories from someone on Facebook.
Unfortunately, WhatsApp status sharing on Facebook is a one-way street. You can’t auto-share Facebook story to WhatsApp status. Currently, Facebook only allows story sharing on Instagram.
Regardless, WhatsApp’s Facebook integration is a great way to share your trendy stories with friends and family. Do you plan to use Facebook integration with WhatsApp? Share your preference in the comments below.
