Teachers will not be able to make any changes until classes are restored.

Using a web browser
Step 1: Open Google Classroom on any web browser.
Step 2: Go to the class you want to archive and click on the ellipsis icon.
Step 3: Then, click Archive.
Step 4: Again, click Archive to confirm.
Use the Google Classroom mobile app
Step 1: Open the Google Classroom mobile app.
Step 2: Click the three-dot icon at the top right of the layer you want to archive.
Step 3: Then, tap Archive.
Step 4: Click Archive again to confirm.
This will effectively cache the class. However, if you want to make any changes or accidentally archive the wrong layer, you can also unarchive it. This is the way.
How to unarchive a class in Google Classroom
You can easily restore your archived classes in Google Classroom. This is the way:
On the Web
Step 1: Go to Google Classroom and click on the hamburger menu icon.
Step 2: Here, click on Archived Classes. All classes previously archived in your Google Classroom will be visible.
Step 3: Then go to the layer you want to unarchive and click on the three dots icon.
Step 4: Here, click on Restore.
Step 5: Again, click Restore.
On the Google Classroom mobile app
Step 1: Open the Google Classroom app and tap the hamburger icon at the top left.
Step 2: Then click on Archived Classes.
Step 3: Go to the class you want to restore and click on the ellipsis icon.
Step 4: Then tap Restore.
Step 5: Click Restore again to confirm.
This will restore or unarchive a class in Google Classroom. Students and teachers will now be able to access and make changes to the unarchived class.
How to delete a class in Google Classroom
Once the semester or session is over, as the class’s lead teacher, you can easily remove a class from Google Classroom by deleting the class. This will permanently delete the class along with all its comments and posts. However, if students have a valid Google Drive link, they can still access class materials. Here’s how to delete a class in Google Classroom.
Note: Only archived layers can be deleted. So you must first archive the class in Google Classroom, then follow the steps below to delete it.

Step 4: Click on the ellipsis icon of the layer you want to delete. Then click Delete.

Step 2: Here, click on Archived Classes.
Step 3: Then, click on the three-dot icon of the layer you want to delete.

No, to unsubscribe from a class in Google Classroom, your teacher must first unarchive the class. Only then can you unsubscribe.
