How to Access Chrome Bookmarks From Anywhere

If you’re like me, your most important and frequently visited websites are in Chrome’s bookmarks bar. Some people even use it to bookmark articles they want to see later. Or when they’re researching stuff. While a service like Pocket would be better for that, Chrome bookmarks are right there, easy to use.

The problem is that Chrome bookmarks only sync with other devices running the Chrome browser. So if you’re like me, who likes to use Safari to read on iPad (because it’s much better), you’re out of luck syncing bookmarks.

Yes, you can do that when you export Chrome bookmarks and add them to Safari on OS X, which in turn will sync to your iPad if iCloud sync is enabled. But that’s a one-time thing. It does not update directly.

Now, thanks to a service called Bookmarks Anywhere, you’ll be able to access your Chrome bookmarks from any device and any browser.

How to use Bookmarks Anywhere

Here’s how you do it. Go to the Chrome browser where your bookmarks are located and download the Bookmarks Anywhere extension.

Now, sign in with the same Google ID that you use in the Chrome browser.

Once you’re signed in, all Chrome bookmarks, along with folders, will be synced to Bookmarks Anywhere’s servers.

This can be any device. Safari on iPad, Edge on Windows 10, whatever. As long as you can access this site, your Chrome bookmarks will be with you.

And as I mentioned above, this update is live. So when you create a new bookmark in Chrome, it will be updated to Bookmark Anywhere’s servers and will be visible on the web page. And the site also allows you to add new bookmarks manually if you want.

Alternative – Manually Export Bookmarks

While this isn’t really a sync feature, it’s possible to send bookmarks from Chrome to Safari on iOS. On a Mac, all you need to do is import your Chrome bookmarks into Safari (see how to do it here), then go to iCloud settings and make sure that The hunt Enabled.

On Windows, you’ll need to download the iCloud screen sync app, and under Bookmarks, select Chrome browser. Apple also has a Chrome extension built specifically for Windows 7 and 8 users to do exactly the same thing.

But of course, this is only a one-time export thing. New bookmarks and changes will not automatically sync.
