Christopher developed interest in basketball very early in his life and started playing the sport with his older brother Caleb. They played together in elementary school, middle school and the first two years at Mayfair High School, as well as on the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) circuit.

During his childhood, Christopher played against older opponents. While at Mayfair, he was averaging 25.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3.6 assists per game, leading his team to a 21–8 record.

Christopher was selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game, Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit. Unfortunately, all three games were canceled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Christopher is a consensus five-star recruit and the number two shooting guard in the 2020 recruiting class. He was scouted by Michigan, USC, Missouri and UCLA but he made his commitment to Arizona State on April 13, 2020.

He went on to become Arizona State’s highest-ranked recruit in the modern recruiting era and the program’s first five-star recruit since the days of James Harden in 2007.

Christopher was selected in the 1st round, 24th overall pick of the 2021 NBA draft by the Houston Rockets. He signed a deal with the Rockets on August 7, 2021, making his NBA debut on October 2021 coming off the bench in a loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Rockets assigned Christopher to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on November 24, 2021. He stay with the Vipers was successful as he averaged 20 points in three games, leading to the Rockets recalling him.

Although he started making progress game after game, Christopher fell out of the rotation in the 2022-23 season, not coming off the bench in many games. Game time became scarce as Diashen Nix was preferred to him.

On July 8, 2023, Christopher was acquired by the Memphis Grizzlies for Dillion Brooks (via sign-and-trade) in a five-team deal. His deal was however waived on September 30.
