Ade Edmondson was born Adrian Charles Edmondson on the 24th of January, 1957 in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire to his mother Dorothy Eileen Sturgeon and to his father Fred Edmondson and he was raised in different countries such as Cyprus, Bahrain and Uganda.

On 28 March 2011, ITV launched the documentary series The Dales, hosted by Edmondson, in which he followed a number of families who live and work in the Yorkshire Dales.
