Guillaume Canet’s Son: Meet Marcel Canet: Born on April 10, 1973, Guillaume Canet is a French actor, film director and screenwriter, and showjumper.
He developed a love for passion at a younger age and has been consistent throughout his career rising through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after French actors.
Growing up, Canet wanted to be a show jumper and was a member of the junior French National Equestrian Team.
Unfortunately, after a fall from his horse at age 18 he focused on acting and enrolled in the Cours Florent drama school.
Canet’s career started in theatre and television and after working in various television shows and commercials, he landed his film debut in the short film Fils Unique.
He went ahead to star in several films including; Barracuda, Joyeux Noel, Love Me If You Dare, Vidocq, The Day the Ponies Come Back, and The Beach.
For his role in “Barracuda”, he won a Prix d’interprétation (best actor award) at the Festival Saint-Jean-de-Luz in 1999.
The same year he was nominated for a César Award for his role as Vincent Mazet in the comedy film En plein cœur.
Somewhere along the journey, he added writing and directing to his craft with his project; “Tell No One” winning a Cesar Award for Best Director.
Canet wrote and directed his first feature film, Mon Idole, starring his wife Diane Kruger. His second feature is “Tell No One”, an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel.
“Tell No One” became the ninth top-grossing French film and went on to win four César awards, including a César Award for Best Director for Canet.
Canet is an accomplished show jumper and between 2012 and 2017 participated in 623 competitions, winning 33 of them.
