Grant Shapps wife-British politician, Grant Shapps was born on September 14, 1968, in Croxely Green, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.

Shapps was born to Beryl Shapps and Tony Shapps. He shares the same parents with his brother Andre Shapps who is a musician.

Grant Shapps attended Yorke Mead Primary School, Watford Grammar School for Boys, where he earned five ‘O’ Levels, and Cassio College in Watford, where he studied business and finance.

Later, he earned a Higher National Diploma after finishing a business and finance program at Manchester Polytechnic.

Grant Shapps career

Shapps first won a seat in the House of Commons in the general election of 2005. In 2007, he was elevated to the position of Shadow Minister for Housing and Planning in the Shadow Cabinet.

Shapps was appointed Minister of State for Housing and Local Government in 2010 after David Cameron became Prime Minister.

He was elevated to the position of Minister without Portfolio and Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party in the 2012 cabinet reshuffle.

He was removed from the Cabinet in May 2015 and became Minister of State for International Development. He resigned from this position in November 2015 as a result of how he handled claims of bullying inside the Conservative Party.

He backed Boris Johnson’s campaign for the Conservative Party leadership in 2019, and after Johnson was elected Prime Minister, he named Shapps as Transport Secretary in July.

In the midst of a political crisis in October 2022, Truss replaced Suella Braverman as home secretary with Shapps. Shapps was the Home Secretary for the shortest time in British political history, spending only six days.

Shapps replaced Jacob Rees-Mogg as Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy when Rishi Sunak was elected Prime Minister. In February 2023, he was named Energy Secretary, and in August 2023, he was named Defence Secretary.

From 2019 to 2022, he was the Johnson government’s secretary of state for transport. From October 2022 to February 2023, he was the Truss government’s secretary of state for business, energy, and industrial strategy.

From February 2023 to August 2023, he was the Johnson government’s secretary of state for energy security and net zero. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Welwyn Hatfield since 2005 and is a member of the Conservative Party.
