By 1971 he had begun working as a producer, eventually hitting it big with the disco-Europop group Boney M, which was massively successful in Europe and had a string of hits between 1976 and 1985 with songs such as Rasputin, Sunny, Daddy Cool, Gotta Go Home, Brown Girl in the Ring…
Farian died in Miami on 23 January 2024, at the age of 82. Although his cause of death was not immediately revealed, Farian said that he had gone through heart valve replacement surgery in 2022.
He also told Bild in Nov. 2023, “My heart valve works wonderfully. Mick Jagger also received exactly the same heart valve. I have a good pig in me! And I’m very grateful for that.”
However, per U.K. newspaper The Evening Standard, Farian’s condition had deteriorated following the procedure — he had lost a lot of weight and was left needing to use a wheelchair.
Meanwhile, Farian’s former partner Ingrid “Milli” Segieth, 69, told Bild that she had visited Farian in Miami over the New Year.
“Frank was physically very weak, but was still full of energy,” she said. “He was still sitting in the recording studio all day, working on new music.”
Frank Farian had a heart valve replacement surgery in 2022 and his condition had deteriorated since then. He also had lung issues that required him to use a wheelchair and breathing equipment.
His cause of death was not immediately revealed, but he died peacefully at his home in Miami, surrounded by his family
