Born in 1973, MacIntosh became a household name following his role as deadpan accountant Keith Bishop in “The Office”. Keith Bishop was a scotch egg-loving accountant who had a monotone answerphone message and would have rather had a career as a DJ.
MacIntosh appeared in other British comedies including; “Miranda” and “Little Britain”. In 2017, he played Lionel in the British romantic comedy film Finding Fatimah. He also appeared in the final season of Ricky Gervais’ After Life, playing “Buffet Man”, who had been banned from his local all-you-can-eat restaurant.
Following his demise, “The Office” co-creator and star Ricky Gervais on Wednesday paid tribute to MacIntosh on X. “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP,” he wrote.

Stephen Merchant, who co-wrote and co-directed the series along with Gervais, remembered MacIntosh as “a lovely and uniquely funny man”
In a statement on Instagram, he wrote; “I’m so very sad to hear of the passing of Ewen Mac Intosh, a lovely and uniquely funny man who played accountant Keith in The Office. I fondly recall we asked him to improvise an out-of-office message, and he was so hilarious we started writing more and more dialogue for him. He soon stole every scene he was in. A total one-off. A tragic loss. RIP”
In a tribute on X, friend Ed Scott said; “devastated by the loss of my very good friend”. “He may have had a famous face known by millions as Keith from The Office but the person inside is what I will most remember”
