Everything we know about Last Sentinel

Last Sentinel was one of the many reveals at The Game Awards 2023, along with other new titles like Lost Records: Bloom & Rage and No Rest for the Wicked. While this early look is all the information we have so far on the game, it is certainly a promising one.

Last Sentinel promises to be a AAA, open-world sci-fi action game set in a futuristic and dystopian-looking Tokyo, here is what we know about the game so far.

The announcement of the game at The Game Awards 2023 came alongside the Reveal Trailer. In it, we see a group of heavily armed police officers and robots breaking into a dilapidated building, in which some feminine androids are protecting a group of children.

Just as things are going very wrong, one of the androids claims “The demon is here”, as our protagonist Hiromi Shoda bursts onto the scene. She makes quick work of the cops and their robots in a very John Wick fashion, before escorting those inside to safety.

The trailer pans up to show the skyline of this futuristic, reconstructed and oppressive Tokyo.

Which developer is making Last Sentinel?

Last Sentinel is being developed by Lightspeed LA – a new studio headed up by Steve Martin, a former Rockstar developer who has also worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 and both Red Dead Redemption games.

This new team brings together talent from across the industry, with staff who previously worked on The Last of Us and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Last Sentinel is the first game from this nascent studio, with a focus on narrative design and player immersion in the triple-A space. The studio has significant backing from being under the Tencent umbrella and seems poised to make an impact with their first release.
