Dragon’s Dogma 2 download size & PC system requirements revealed

The scale of the open world in Dragon’s Dogma 2 might suggest that its download size will send shivers down anyone with poor internet speeds, but it’s thankfully looking not too bad – and the same might even be true for the PC system requirements too.

Preloading the game if it is an option is definitely recommended though – but you’ll definitely want to check whether your parts exceed the recommended specs as there’s no doubt that the chaos detailed in our wonderful preview will take even the best GPU and CPU for a wild ride.

How big is Dragon’s Dogma 2’s download size?

While not quite as big as most other AAA titles, you’ll still have to download just under 70GB before you play Dragon’s Dogma 2.

This is likely due to the size of the world and how densely textured it is, but it’s still relatively small in the grand scheme of things and I was certainly expecting it to be near the 100GB mark at least.

You can preload Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Xbox right now, but the dates for both PS5 and PC have not yet been confirmed. I’ll make sure to let you know when this becomes available, as you’ll want as much time as you can get to download the game before release.

Minimum

According to the game’s Steam page, these specs will get you around the 1080p/30fps mark – but this will likely drop in intensive scenes if you’re only hitting the minimum.

SpecRequirement
OSWindows 10/Windows 11
CPUIntel Core i5 10600 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM16GB
GPUNVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 5500XT (8GB)
DirectXVersion 12

I wouldn’t be surprised if the CPU is where most players will find issues in the game, as the former favourite GTX 1060 GPU will probably be just about enough to scrape by. It is within these intensive and chaotic scenes that a lower processor will start to chug though, so you might want to consider upgrading if you’ve got an old CPU.

Recommended

These specs will, according to the Steam page once again, let you meet a benchmark of around 4K/30fps, with drops once again in intensive scenes.

SpecRequirement
OSWindows 10/Windows 11
CPUIntel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
RAM16GB
GPUNVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 / AMD Radeon RX 6700
DirectXVersion 12

I’m personally a bit sceptical of these specs when considering the minimum recommendations and the 4K30 benchmark. While the pressure does increase on the GPU side of things when you up the resolution – as indicated with the big jump up to the RTX 2080 – the lack of any significant improvement in the CPU will probably cause you problems.

I’d be looking at around a 12th Gen Intel or Ryzen 5000 CPU at least if you’re looking to play at 4K, as otherwise, you’ll likely see big drops and instability when any action is ongoing.
