Does Concord run on Steam Deck?

Concord is the latest PlayStation game to make its way to PC, and that might have you wondering whether you can load up this multiplayer shooter on the Steam Deck for portable play.

PlayStation’s previous outings on Valve’s hardware have been masterful, with Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and even Ratchet and Clank all running perfectly. The question is, does that same courtesy extend to Firewalk’s latest title?

Can you run Concord on Steam Deck?

Sadly, it’s not a question of performance when it comes to running Concord on Steam Deck – it’s a question of multiplayer infrastructure.

Simply put, you can’t play Concord on Steam Deck at all, and it’s unlikely that it will ever be supported.

This is due to Concord using PlayStation Network for its online multiplayer component, which is only compatible with Windows devices. As the Steam Deck runs on Linux out of the box, the game is completely unsupported unless you’re willing to do some major tinkering.

It’s not the first time that PlayStation games have run into this hurdle on Steam Deck. While Ghost of Tsushima runs flawlessly on the hardware, it’s officially listed as unsupported on the store. This is because the online co-op functionality doesn’t work as it relies on the same PlayStation Network infrastructure that Concord does.

If you perform a clean install of Windows 11 on your Steam Deck, then you might be able to play Concord on the Deck. I haven’t done this personally, but given that my RTX 3080 and Intel i9 CPU struggle to maintain a stable frame rate, I can’t imagine the Steam Deck will be the optimal way to play the game.

The only other way to play the game on the Deck would be via local streaming from a PS5, which is possible via applications such as Chiaki.

I’ll update this article if Sony does end up patching Concord to support multiplayer features on the Steam Deck. For now, though, we’re fresh out of luck.
