According to a recent Facebook post by Kaskade (real name Ryan Raddon), the event occurred as he was on his way home from a European tour. “I woke up to the smell of burning plastic,” he said. “As the main cabin started to get hazy and fill with smoke, it was obvious that something was really wrong.”
The pilot, according to Raddon, stated over the loudspeaker that they would make an emergency landing in Reykjavik, Iceland. While being taken back to a more vacant seat, he noticed other passengers crying and praying and became concerned for his own safety.
The arrival of the Icelandic coastline elicited cheers from the plane’s occupants. “After all the emergency procedures were done and everyone was off the plane they shuttled us on busses into downtown Reykjavik,” Raddon stated in an email. “People boarded the busses randomly hugging one another, smiling and laughing sharing their stories of what happened swapping bits of info.”
