Darrell Edward Brooks is a 40-year-old man was accused of six counts of first-degree intentional homicide and 70 other counts related to the Waukesha Christmas Parade on Nov. 21, 2021.
This was after he drove his SUV into a crowd of Christmas parade attendees in Waukesha, Wisconsin, last November, causing the death of about six people and also injuring dozens of the attendees.
After hearing two days of passionate testimony from the victims and their loved ones, Judge Jennifer Dorow sentenced Brooks to life in prison without the chance of parole on each of the six counts of first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon on Wednesday.
Dorow handed down penalties for Brooks on Wednesday that total hundreds of years more in prison on the other 70 counts he was found guilty of last month, in addition to six consecutive life terms for first-degree intentional killing.
For each of the 61 charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a deadly weapon, she gave Brooks a sentence of 17.5 years.

Before the judgments were announced, people wearing blue Waukesha Strong sweatshirts gathered outside the courtroom, their heads bowed and their prayers silent.
Circuit Judge Jennifer Dorow of Waukesha County has set a hearing for Monday to decide whether to set the sentencing date, and she has said that she will allow victims to submit statements via Zoom. However, Judge Jennifer Dorow sentenced Brooks to life in prison without the chance of parole on each of the six counts of first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022.
