While my Android monster HTC One X was better than my old Nokia phone in every way, the one feature that I miss most, which used to be with Nokia, is the ability to change profiles on the fly. Most of you will agree with me when I say that it is very easy to switch profiles in older Nokia phones. When I am in a meeting or in the hospital, I can activate the corresponding profile by simply pressing the power button and selecting the desired profile from the list.
I was looking for an app that could bring the same feature to my Android and that’s when I learned about Quick Profile. Quick Profiles is a very simple app for Android that allows you to create different ringtone profiles and switch between them easily.
Quick Profile on Android
To get started, install Quick Profile from the Play Store and launch the app. The next thing we need to do is create some profiles in the app. To create one, press the menu button and click Add Profile.
Now customize all sounds (incoming ringer, volume, etc.) and device settings (Wi-Fi, Airplane, Bluetooth, etc.) suitable for that configuration. After you have configured the profile, press the back soft key to save the configuration.
Repeat the process to add more profiles, all of which will appear in the main screen of the app. When you want to switch between profiles, just open the app and select the desired profile.
For easier configuration switching, the app offers widget support but only in the pro version. If you want to switch profiles more easily in the basic version, open the menu and tap Options. In settings check the option status bar shortcuts. The shortcut to the Quick Profile app will be pinned to your notification drawer, and you can call the app from there whenever you want to change the profile.
Note: The app does not provide automatic or time-based configuration switching. This app is for manual profile conversion purposes only.
Also, unlike older phones, you can create unlimited profiles using the app. And if you’re going to upgrade your phone’s ROM, you can create a backup of all the profiles you’ve created in the app and restore them within seconds.
Overall, it’s an impressive app and I think every Android user should install it on other phones for better ring and device management.
