If you’ve gone to exit out of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in a hurry, you might have noticed that there’s no option to save your game.
Creating manual save files in games can be incredibly useful for some gamers. It can create that peace of mind that you know you’ve clicked the save button, with your progress safe and sound. For others, it can be useful to have older save files to fall back on, whether to choose a different dialogue option or fix a pesky bug.
While you can’t save your game manually in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you shouldn’t be too worried about losing your overall progress. Here’s what you need to know about the save system in Ubisoft’s latest open-world game.

While there is no option to save your game manually, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora does save your game every time that you choose to exit to the main menu. So, if you need to close down the game, be sure to exit out to the main menu before closing the game down properly.
From my playthrough so far, I’m yet to run into any issues with the autosave feature. Whenever I’ve loaded back into the game, I’ve always spawned relatively close by to where I last was and have only lost a small amount of quest progress.
However, it’s frustrating that there isn’t a manual save button that lets you know your progress has been saved for certain. I often like to create multiple save files so I can revisit earlier parts of the story. That’s not the case in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – once you’ve advanced through a story beat, there’s no going back.

While you can’t create manual save files from within a playthrough, it is possible to start a new game without completely wiping over your current one.
On the game’s main menu screen, there is an option to choose ‘New Game’ instead of ‘Continue’. If you select this option, it will take you to a menu where you can choose a new save slot. It looks like you can have four different save files at once.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is much like the Far Cry games in that the story is quite linear, with very few branching options. As such, you’ll only need to start a new game if you’re hungering to play through the whole game again, this time with a slightly different character design.
While it’s frustrating that there’s no option to create a manual save file in Ubisoft’s Avatar game, it’s great that we can at least have multiple playthroughs at the same time.
