Can you play Skull and Bones offline & single player?

When you think of pirates a few things come to mind ranging from pillaging to big ships and more, but it also evokes a sense of camaraderie. With that in mind, I’m here to answer if Skull and Bones is worth playing single-player and if it can be played offline.

The game is the latest open-world game from Ubisoft and sees the company return to the open seas for another pirating adventure. However, it’s not set in the Assassin’s Creed universe this time around. Instead, Ubisoft has decided to sail into a fresh new series.

Can you play Skull and Bones offline?

Unfortunately, Skull and Bones is always online, a trend we have seen in a lot of multiplayer games in recent years. This means if you don’t have an internet connection, you won’t be able to access the game at all and will have to wait until you can get online to set sail.

There has been no mention of whether or not the game will have an offline mode later down the line, but it seems very unlikely this will happen considering the style of the game it is.

Is the game worth playing solo?

Of course, you can always jump into the game by yourself, even if the game is intended to be played as an online multiplayer game. Early on, it isn’t too noticeable that you’re not playing with pals, but as the game progresses and grows more challenging, there’s a high chance some company would be welcome – especially for things like raids.

There is also no single-player campaign to sink your teeth into. A lot of the gameplay works around upgrading your ship and levelling up so it is pretty light on a story. If you enjoy the naval combat from other Ubisoft games and really like the idea of levelling up your ship, then you should be able to find some fun by yourself in Skull and Bones, but outside of that, there is not a lot to enjoy as a solo player.
