Best team for the Electric Cup in Pokemon GO

The Electric Cup has returned to the Pokemon GO Battle League, so we’ve rounded up some of the best teams you can use to make sure you’re charged up and ready to win.

As the name suggests, the Electric Cup only allows Electric-type Pokemon to enter. They’ll also need to be under 1500 CP, which means your options are severely narrowed down – chances are, your usual GO Battle League favourites won’t be eligible to take part.

To make matters even more complicated, Stunfisk, Heliolisk, Charjabug, and Vikavolt are all banned from entering. So, if you’re struggling to put a team together, we’ve got some recommendations to help you out.

One of the best teams you can use for the Electric Cup is Lanturn, Galvantula, and Hisuian Electrode.

While the rules state that only Electric-type Pokemon can enter this cup, dual types are still eligible – and all three of these Pokemon have dual typings that help them stand out.

A quick look at PvPoke’s rankings shows us that Lanturn is expected to be the big threat in this run of the Electric Cup. Good bulk and a great moveset help it reign supreme, while access to Water-type attacks helps it deal with the triple threat of Alolan Geodude, Alolan Graveler, and Alolan Golem.

With Lanturn expected to be the number one Pokemon in this cup, you’ll want something to counter it – and both Galvantula and Hisuian Electrode can fill that role with their Grass-type Charged Moves. They’ve also got plenty of other potential wins under their belt, making this a great team altogether.

Another solid team for the Electric Cup would be Minun, Alolan Graveler, and Luxray. Just like Galvantula and Hisuian Electrode, Minun has access to Grass-type attacks that really come in handy. Alolan Graveler is a great counter for the imposing Galvantula, while Luxray is a spicy pick with one condition…

If you’re going to use Luxray, it needs to have the Fast Move Hidden Power (Ground). Because this attack will have a random type – and the type cannot be changed once it’s been learned – the chances of getting a Luxray that knows the Ground-type variation are very slim. If you’ve not got one, avoid using Luxray here.
