every other day, it’s very important to me to make a complete backup of my phone that I can rely on. Well, that was just my case, but you should make a periodic backup of your phone. You never know when your shiny device decides to fail leaving you hanging.
There are many Android apps available on Play Store that claim to back up your phone on your internal SD Card. There’s no harm in using these apps but what I feel is that a backup made on a computer is always more reliable than a backup created on the phone itself. Moreover, the storage space on mobile devices is used to store music, videos and important files… why waste it on backups?
So today we will see how to create a complete backup of Android phone to Windows PC. We will use free software called Wondershare MobileGO. Basically, MobileGO is a complete Android smartphone manager for PC. But today we are going to detail its backup and restore feature.
Make a backup
Step 1: Download and install Wondershare MobileGO on your computer as well as the MobileGO communication app on your Android. Make sure that you have enabled USB Debugging on your phone and that the phone drivers are installed on your computer.
Step 2: Once all of that is done, launch the MobileGO app on your computer and connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable. You can even connect using Wi-Fi, but a wired connection is better. Since backing up and restoring data requires a lot of data transfer between the computer and the device, the USB connection is faster and more efficient.
Step 3: After successful connection, Wondershare will give you a brief overview of your phone’s memory. Below the information you will find backup and restore options. click backup button to start the wizard.
Step 4: On the backup wizard, select the data you want to back up (contacts, messages, and apps). You can even perform selective backups. If you want to change your backup location, browse the folder and select it.
Step 5: When everything is ready, click backup button to start the backup process. MobileGO will initiate the backup process and notify you when it’s done.
Now you can upgrade your phone or factory reset it without fear of data loss.
Now let’s see how to restore data back to the phone.
Restore backup
Step 1: When you want to recover data, launch MobileGO application on your computer and connect your phone. On the app, click Restore to start the process.
Step 2: If you have created multiple backups using the application, all of them will be listed in the wizard. Select the one you want to restore along with the data.
Step 3: Finally click on recovery button to start the process.
Note: Wondershare works quickly when creating a backup, but restoring will take a considerable amount of time.
MobileGO only restores apps and their data, so you may lose all settings of individual apps. However, the best part is that everything is done silently. You don’t even need to touch your phone in the middle of the recovery process. All applications will be installed automatically.
