Backup, Restore Apps With Data On iOS Without iTunes

iTunes allows you to backup and restore your apps and all your data whenever you want. But if you’ve ever used iTunes to sync data to and from your iPhone, you know it’s not the best experience you can have. Apple has crammed this idea into our brains that we really need iTunes to sync and backup our iOS devices when that simply isn’t true.

Not to mention that you can’t sync your music library with multiple devices. What if you want to copy music from a friend’s computer without deleting thousands of songs on your iPhone? System is broken. But if you’re willing to look outside, you’ll find many solutions.

DiskAid

DiskAid (available for both Mac and Windows PC, tested on Mac) is one such “PC Suite” for iOS devices. It will backup and sync almost everything on your iPhone. The app will let you add new songs, perform backups of your contacts and messages, manage your photos, explore the entire file system, and more.

One of the best things that DiskAid does is that it allows you to back up your apps and data from your iPhone to your Mac/PC. You can delete apps from your iPhone if you want. Come back later, reinstall the app and it will be there the way you left it, intact with all data.

DiskAid offers an extremely limited number of free trials. You cannot transfer more than 25 songs or back up more than 5 contacts. I have been testing the app for backing up apps for a long time and I’ve done more than 10 backups and restores in a row and I haven’t seen any limited pop-ups. If there was a limit to this function, I wouldn’t have pressed it. You can unlock all limits by purchasing a license for $30.

App Backup

Launch the app and connect your iPhone. You can do it via USB or Wi-Fi. Both your computer and iPhone need to be on the same network for this feature to work. But that’s all it takes. No settings involved.

If you’re going to back up anything more than a few MB, I’d recommend connecting via USB as the transfer speeds are much better.

Once connected, select application from the sidebar. You will see a list of all installed apps here. For some reason, I’m not allowed to select multiple apps at once. So you will need to do these applications one at a time.

Select any one application and from the bottom menu bar click Application management. From there choose Unzip the app.

You will need to select the destination where you want to save the application file.

Then choose if you also want to back up app data. In a few seconds, the application file will be copied.

You can now uninstall the app if you want.

Restoring backed up apps is easy, and you can also do it in batches. similar words application screen, select Copy to device and choose any number of backed up apps you have.

They will be installed one by one.

Does it work?

Correct. I deleted a few games and note apps. When I went back to Threes, my score was still there. The same goes for my notes in UpWord. It works.
