Ashton Togerson, 16, was in an accident and crashed into the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals on Wednesday.
According to its website, Togerson has been racing for about 10 years.
The Lucas Oil Chilli Bowl Nationals is a midsize auto race nicknamed the “Super Bowl of midsize auto racing”.
During the collision, Ashton’s car flipped several times before paramedics arrived.
Ashton was taken to the hospital and he is conscious.
Torgerson Racing gave an update on Togerson while he was in hospital.

According to the company’s tweet, his arms and legs passed the tests.
“Passed the neck and back examination, waiting for the CT scan. The first thing he asked me was where he was.
Followed by, “You have no idea how much your support means to Ashton and his family”.
The drivers and officials decided to continue the race and Rico Abreu took first place.
“These are difficult moments for racers. I didn’t see what happened with my own eyes, but you can feel anxiety and fear,” Rico said.
“We are race car drivers, and we have to prepare these when things cool down.”
Hats off to the Chili Bowl for their safe response.
Petersen Media reports that Torgerson was awake when he arrived at the hospital.

Togerson’s company has shared an update that Togerson has some blood in his brain.
The doctors will watch that and be surprised that Togerson is doing so well.
They also thanked @Rico_Abreu, the race winner, for checking him out.
