Posen produced a dress for model Naomi Campbell while studying in London in 2000, which ended up in the hands of numerous industry insiders, garnering him many connections. He met his future publicist and event producer Ed Filipowski through Ingrid Sischy, the editor-in-chief of Interview magazine at the time, who promised to represent him for free.
Posen returned to New York in 2001 and established a makeshift atelier in his parents’ living room.
