After setting an amateur record of 110-5, Zab Judah turned professional in 1996. Four years later, in 2000, he won the IBF junior welterweight title by knocking out Jan Piet Bergman in the fourth round.
Zab Judah defended his IBF championship five fights before losing to Kostya Tszyu by second-round TKO in 2001. The judge, who had stopped the bout before the bell, was attacked by Judah, who was enraged by the stoppage. This resulted in a six-month suspension and a $75,000 fine. But with his 2003 victory over DeMarcus Corley, Judah secured the WBO Junior Welterweight title, which he would only defend once before moving up to Welterweight.

The fight started off strong before Mayweather grabbed control. And, with around 10 seconds left in the tenth round, Judah landed a low shot on Mayweather before delivering a right to the back of his head. Both fighters’ camps entered the ring, resulting in an all-out riot. The ring was cleared, and the fight proceeded for the final two rounds, ending in a unanimous decision in Mayweather’s favor.
Afterward, purses were withheld until penalties could be reviewed. Zab Judah received a $350,000 fine and a one-year license suspension. Zab regained the IBF welterweight title in 2011, but his career came to an end in 2019 after suffering a brain bleed during a stoppage loss against Cletus Seldin. Zab Judah won 44 of his 56 matches, including 30 via knockout.
