Arum first became involved in the boxing profession in 1962, when he was sent by the Department of Justice to confiscate the spoils of a fight between Sonny Liston and Floyd Patterson. This event led him to meet Lester M. Malitz, a CCTV pioneer who was also a boxing promoter at the time. Arum then became Malitz’s attorney. Bob quickly rose to the position of boxing promoter. Arum met with people like Jim Brown and Muhammad Ali, who taught him how to be a successful boxing promoter.
