Weapon tier list
This tier list is based on my own personal assessment of the weapons. I have used some much more than others, but you’ll definitely want to pay attention to the items near the top:
Tier
Weapon
S
Putrescence Cleaver, Rellana’s Twin Blades, Greatsword of Radahn (Light), Greatsword of Radahn (Lord), Spear of the Impaler
A
Backhand Blade, Gazing Finger, Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana, Great Katana, Rakshasa’s Great Katana, Poleblade of the Bud, Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe, Milady, Leda’s Sword, Greatsword of Solitude, Greatsword of Damnation, Falx, Dane’s Footwork, Obsidian Lamina, Beast Claw, Staff of the Great Beyond, Maternal Staff, Golden Lion Shield, Fire Knight’s Seal
Of course, this ranking is very much unique to me and my own preferences, so there might be something that doesn’t work for me that is perfect for you. However, I’d very much recommend trying out everything in the S-tier though, as they emerged as essential equipment during my playthrough.
New weapon types
Beast Claws
Great Katanas
Hand-to-hand Arts
Light Greatswords
Perfume Bottles
Reverse-hand Swords
Throwing Weapons
Thrusting Shields
Every single one of these categories features weapon styles not seen before in the base game, giving you new ways to play and movesets to master.
How many new weapons are there?
It has been confirmed that at least 100 new weapons will be present within the DLC, which will certainly put a strain on the Smithing Stone market as I try to upgrade them all!
I’ve managed to find 64 new weapons currently, so there are definitely plenty that I’ve missed in my travels through the Land of Shadow.
