All Rise of the Ronin difficulty settings explained

Rise of the Ronin falls into the Soulslike genre, infamous for offering immense challenge and sparking debate about difficulty in games, and with Rise of the Ronin creeping closer we’re all wondering about the game’s difficulty settings.

Team Ninja has developed plenty of challenging games in the past and if you enjoyed the Nioh series, you’ll be surprised to find out that you can change the difficulty of the studio’s latest outing that takes us to 19th Century Japan. I’ll update this page once we know more about how the difficulty works in-game, but here’s everything we know so far.

Rise of the Ronin difficulty settings

According to the game’s official FAQ page, there will be three different difficulty settings. These are:

Dawn is the easiest and comes with other options like increasing health recovery and how much Ki is lost from attacks.

I’m also very happy to see that this can be changed at any time during a playthrough; there’s nothing worse than being stuck on a boss for hours and all you want is to find out what’s next in the game.

That’s all there is to know for now, but we will make sure this page is updated when the game releases later this month. For more guides check out our Rise of the Ronin homepage where we have covered the games release, the different editions and even our first impressions after going hands-on.
