Evolution Stones date back to the origins of Pokemon and, aside from levelling, are one of the original ways to evolve Pokemon. It’s important to note that certain Evolution Stones function differently depending on what region of the Pokemon world you’re in when you use it and which Pokemon you’re targeting. For example, Using a Thunder Stone on Pikachu evolves it into Raichu if you’re outside of Alola, but if you’re in Aloa, your Pikachu will turn into an Alolan Raichu.

Furthermore, depending on what Pokemon game you’re playing, certain Pokemon evolutions or Evolution Stones may not exist yet. For instance, Leafeon wasn’t introduced until Generation IV and Leaf Stones did not affect Eevee until Generation VIII with Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Combine an Evolution Stone with a suitable Pokemon to evolve it into a new species, increasing its strength and potentially teaching it new moves and abilities!
