All Overwatch 2 starting heroes & how to unlock new ones

It’s no secret that Overwatch 2 has an ever-growing roster of characters that are added every other Season, but some of these characters are available to you from the start – so we’re here to break down all your starting heroes and how to unlock the rest of them in the game.

If this is your first time playing Overwatch 2, you’ll quickly find that you are limited to a select few starting heroes that make up a base roster. However, there are ways to get more heroes as you progress.

What are the starting heroes in Overwatch 2?

The starting heroes in Overwatch 2 are divided into their respective Tank, DPS, and Support classes with a small selection of characters being available from the moment you enter the game.

With the bulk of the full roster taken up by DPS heroes, there are naturally more in that category. This is then followed by the Tank and Support groups. But, whether you’re a hardy Tank or a trusty Support, the starting heroes in Overwatch 2 will give you a good variety of playstyles before you start unlocking more.

If you had a previous profile from the original Overwatch, all heroes will be available to you from the moment you sign into your account.
